I’m a 20 year old student at University of Kent, studying Business Information Technology. I’m on an intermission year and will be returning for my final year in 2021.
Currently, I am a UX Design Intern at Digital Influx!
Before going to university, I had been deeply interested in Web Design/Development. I would design websites from scratch, then build them using HTML and CSS. Despite that, coding was not really my forté. I did, however, like to design. I always had a knack in drawing as a child and enjoyed my Art subjects immensely.
Most of the times, I tend to overprepare and overthink on a lot of things, which results in a lot of sleepless nights. But who else doesn't, right?
My passion for UX sparked when I finished my first year at university, after having learnt Human Computer Interaction. I valued having the responsibility to be creative and develop solutions to improve the quality of life for users. The question "Is this convenient for the user?" has always been stuck in my head ever since.
Whenever I went to university, I couldn’t help but notice designs (physical and digital) that made me think: “Wow! This is such a pain to use for completing such a simple task”. Every time I encountered such designs, I always kept thinking of methods to create a better user experience.
I love UX because it's able to intertwine with technology, art and storytelling. When done properly, it can result in something beautiful.
On a day to day basis, I strive to create things that are just simple and easy to use, really. Minimalism has heavily inspired my way of approaching certain problems. As Leonardo Da Vinci once said, "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication". Nonetheless, sprinkling some spice ever so often also helps a lot. Designs need to be fun too!
I’ve always liked solving puzzles; it's a good way to challenge myself in terms of logical thinking. From the Rubik's Cube, to the Fisher Cube - I like a good challenge!
If I had to choose a sport that only I could do forever in my life, it would be swimming. Swimming makes me feel free, like I could just float away, forever.
Some day, I want to start my own clothing brand. There are many social and ethical factors that I want to research and tackle, to provide sustainable and affordable fashion.
